What have we been up to this summer?
55th Anniversary Celebrations
In addition to loan, mortgage, service, and membership specials, we celebrated Member Appreciation in each branch this summer with free food and treats on select days. It was wonderful to spend time with our members sharing credit union stories from days old and new!
NEW Online Account Application
Many of our SECNY team have taken part this year in the implementation and launch of a new online account application. This new platform incorporates ability to fund new accounts online, document uploads, and more and is now available on our website, in online banking and our mobile app!
Community Support- SECNY was pleased to distribute funds from the Federal Home Loan Bank Small Business Recovery Grant (SBRG) program to 13 local businesses/organizations. The grant focuses on supporting small businesses and non-profit organizations that have faced economic challenges due to inflation, supply-chain constraints and/or rising energy costs. Funds may be used for reasonable and necessary expenses.
Financial Literacy Programs- SECNY staff spent much of the summer providing financial literacy programming at several of our local libraries, Onondaga Community College, and back to school events!
What kinds of Fall fun are we looking forward to?
Fall Shred Day- Join us Saturday, November 7th from 9:00am-12:00pm at the Onondaga Hill branch for our annual Fall Shred Day! Documents can be shredded for FREE courtesy of VitalShred and SECNY! For details, stay tuned to our social media, visit secny.org, or contact any branch.
2026 College Scholarship Program
This year, SECNY will award five $1,000 Scholarships to high school seniors. The credit union recognizes student potential within our communities and commits contribution to student development through support of continuing education. One of the five Scholarship Awards will be designated for a student remaining in our local CNY area, planning on attending Community College, Trade School, Work Program or Certificate Program, etc.

Student Branch Openings- With the new academic year in full swing, SECNY is preparing once again to open our four student-run branches in local high schools at Onondaga Central, LaFayette, Jordan-Elbridge and Solvay in October. Our students and credit union staff have been working hard readying these programs for learning and life skills!

A refresh is coming for our youth and young adult programs! Be on the lookout for updates to our Save2Learn (ages 13-17) and Save2Earn (ages 18-26) accounts!
SECNY ATM Contactless Readers
All SECNY branch ATMs will be adding contactless card reader capability later this year.
