Summer is here and so is your credit union to help you accomplish your goals! Celebrations are underway recognizing a new milestone for SECNY- our 55th Anniversary! Chartered in May 1971 and rooted in education, the credit union has grown into this incredible place thanks to you, your families, our communities, staff, and volunteers.
What have we been up to this spring?
55th Anniversary Celebration!
SECNY is offering many special promotions (like our outstanding Mortgage, Home Equity, and Vehicle Loan rates!) for you to take advantage of right now! We are also celebrating Member Appreciation Days with free food and treats on a special day at each of our branches throughout the summer. Contact any branch or stay informed through our website, marketing, and social media platforms!
Community Engagement
From food/hygiene drives to parades, festivals, and community events, your credit union staff have been out and about representing SECNY and working to celebrate our mission to serve!
Student Success!
SECNY is proud to support Onondaga Community College and Hillside working with the Bridge 2 Manufacturing Program, helping participants open accounts and learn about budgeting. This program gives selected graduating Syracuse City School District students the chance to earn real money while exploring higher level math, life skills (like financial literacy!), and the various manufacturing and engineering careers that are expected to grow in upstate NY. They are then accepted into OCC with various additional support.
Concurrently, we wrapped up another fantastic year of Student Branch operations in four local high schools- Onondaga Central, LaFayette, Jordan-Elbridge, and Solvay along with financial literacy programming in several other local districts. Our credit union staff, school staff, and students explored a variety of concepts, participated in activities, and ultimately experienced the benefits of credit union membership and the value of community!
What’s ahead this summer?
NEW Online Account Application
Many of our SECNY team have taken part this year in the implementation and launch of a new online account application. This new platform will incorporate ability to fund new accounts online, document uploads, and more! Live launch is expected late July/early August.
Preparation for a New Academic Year!

A New Look for our Save2Learn/Save2Earn Programs!
A refresh is coming for our youth and young adult programs! Be on the lookout for updates to our Save2Learn (ages 13-17) and Save2Earn (ages 18-26) accounts!
SECNY ATM Contactless Readers
All SECNY branch ATMs will be adding contactless card reader capability later this year.
