The 2024 Homebuyer Dream Program™ and the inaugural 2024 Homebuyer Dream Program™ Plus are underway
These limited-time grant programs are available to first-time homebuyers. Participants may receive a grant of up to $20,000* for down payment and/or closing costs. Funding is available on a first come first served basis.
To qualify, you must meet the following eligibility guidelines:
- Anyone listed on the mortgage must be considered a first-time homebuyer. (Someone who has not owned a home within the last three years)
- Total household income must be within the income limitations that are based on the county where the property is located.
- You must have $1,000 of your own funds to use toward the purchase of the home, and
- Buyers must complete the required homebuyer certification course through an approved counseling agency.
*Membership eligibility is required. Members must meet the income and credit requirements necessary to obtain a mortgage at SECNY FCU and be a first-time homebuyer. Up to $19,500 for down payment and/or closing costs and $500 towards the homeownership counseling costs.

All eligible borrowers will need to become a member of the credit union and open their membership account prior to or at time of application. View membership eligibility.
HDP funds are distributed on a first come first served basis. There is no guarantee that funds will be available when your Reservation Request is submitted. The grant is a Federal Home Loan Bank of NY program.
