Quality Assurance & Process Improvement Specialist

$21.19-$25.00/hr

SECNY Federal Credit Union is currently looking for a Quality Assurance & Process Improvement Specialist in our accounting department to verify the accuracy of the work performed by multiple departments within the credit union. This position uses a variety of different audits, queries, performs quality control checks on various non-financial changes and reviews supporting documentation for account changes. Proficient understanding of opening new accounts, adding sub-accounts, certificates of deposits and account maintenance.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Reviews opening of new accounts, certificates, and adding of sub-accounts.
  • Reviews account maintenance transactions including change of name and address, account ownership, CD changes, interest rates, credit limits, and due dates.
  • Acquires and upholds the necessary working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations and credit union bylaws and policies to ensure compliance.
  • Provides complete, accurate records of quality assurance practices and delivers reports that are reviewed by senior management, the Supervisory Committee, and any internal/external auditors.
  • Evaluates selected operational functions and suggests procedures to ensure efficient and effective methods of operations; communicates with management to ensure that procedures and training are implemented.
  • Assists the CFO and CPA firm in gathering data and documentation for audits being performed.
  • Creates and maintains AQ files for each review and ensures the files are accurate and organized.
  • Maintains the accounts payable system via entering and paying invoices, assigning appropriate general ledger accounts and creating related fixed asset and prepaid files in the accounting software.
  • Reviews closed account report to ensure accounts will be purged from the core system.
  • Coordinates the bi-annual Member Verification process.  Logs return statements, performs alternate procedures and reports and findings to the Supervisory Committee.
  • Acts as a backup to the Accounting Specialist and Finance Specialist.

Education & Experience

Associate's Degree (AA/AS) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
